ARTISTS STATEMENT

“HEAD GEAR” gave me the opportunity to explore the making of felt hats in an adventuresome manner.
All of the hats are hand felted from merino or romni fleece or a combination of fleeces that had either been hand dyed by myself or Pat Adams (romni fleece). Various forms of embellishment were incorporated during the felting or upon completion of the felting process. These included making silk paper, hand and machine embroidery, rug hooking technique, and hand beading.

Inspiration comes from my garden, hiking trails and paying attention to natures miracles.
